The role of the PTFA 2010/11.

Did you know?

· PTFA stands for ‘Parent Teacher and Friends Association’.

· You become a member of the PTFA as soon as your child starts at the school!

· Being an active member of the PTFA is a vital way you can help ensure that Kilmington School continues to thrive as an inspirational learning environment.

· Parents and friends can help in many different ways, for example  by listening or  reading to the children, transporting children, general help in the classroom, helping on trips, at the allotment, swimming, school clubs, as well as helping fund raising and social events to be a success......

· The money raised by the PTFA has allowed the school to buy crucial equipment such as computers, interactive whiteboards and musical instruments as well as to refurbish Axe Class, the Kitchen and the Library. It also provides regular money for French tuition and contributes towards school trips and transport.

We hope you have found this helpful!

News from the PTFA

Firstly we would like to say a big thank you to all of last years PTFA especially Steve & Vivienne Littley, Darren & Jenny Melarkey- Williams & Diane Overton for all your hard work. A magnificent £10,216.86 was raised

Following on from Monday nights AGM we would like to introduce ourselves as the new committee: Chairpersons – Alison Dare & Sam Alexander-Mitchell, Vice Chair- Heidi Sharp, Joint Secretary -Emily Seward & Vivienne Littley, Treasurer- Sara Leat.

As parents with children at Kilmington you are all members of the PTFA & we need your help to raise the much required funds to give your children all the little extras throughout their school lives (e.g. French tuition, outdoor play equipment, computers, to name but a few).

Mr Bettison has requested that the PTFA raise money this term to help towards the ever increasing transport costs for school excursions, a playground storage shed & a bike store for Axe class. The committee’s aim is to make this all possible but we obviously need your help & support throughout the year. Please come along to our next meeting or let us know if you have any fundraising ideas. Our next meeting will be on Thursday 29th September at 6.30pm (at school).

We are all busy parents like yourselves and we would appreciate any help or time you can offer however large or small. We are looking for further members to join the committee and take on roles like organising refreshments, obtaining raffle prizes & arranging advertising for all school events this year, so if you think this maybe something you would be interested in doing let us know.

If any parents work for companies that are happy to match any monies raised by the PTFA we would greatly appreciate any information on this.

We are looking forward to working with you this year & helping the school & it would be great to see you at the next meeting.

If you need to contact us our numbers are:

Alison – 0776 5467 174 or Sam – 07952 818 491

Many thanks

Sam Alexander-Mitchell & Alison Dare
