Kilmington Primary School Governors
Their role in the life of the school
The structure of the governing body is laid down by the Government and members of that body represent the school, the parents and the community.
They work together for the benefit of the school community to ensure that all aspects of the school are well represented to achieve the best possible outcome for Kilmington Primary School.
The governing body acts as a critical friend, providing support and, where necessary, a friendly challenge, scrutinising ideas, plans and relevant information. Time is taken to fully understand the context of what is presented and the outcomes that the school is working towards: an advocate for success.
There are 12 members of the Governing body:
3 Staff Governors elected by the school staff
2 Local Authority Governors nominated by the members of the Local Authority
4 Parent Governors elected by the parents
3 Community representatives co-
opted by the Governing body.
Governors serve for 4 years, (and can be re-
appointed) and each year they elect a Chair and Vice Chair from the membership.
There is a Clerk to the Governors who attends all full Governors' Meetings and Committee Meetings.
Each governor serves on a selection of committees, such as Finance, Curriculum, Buildings, Personnel, Health & Safety, bringing with them their expertise, interest and enthusiasm.
The governors have each submitted a brief personal history so that you know who they are and something about their interest in and their work for our school.
